This winter vacation, I broke several driving records: drive in Taipei, drive on the freeway alone from Nantou to Taichung, and also my dream-- give my friends a ride and sing along to Taylor Swift’s songs on the way! 

         As a driver who is specialized in highway driving (a beautiful way to say I am bad at pulling over or driving downtown), every time we pick up my sister in Taipei, I am responsible for driving to the freeway service area in Taoyuan and my dad will take over the drive in Taipei, because I cannot bear any possibility of scratching Benz or Lamborghini. However, this time, when I returned from my rest at the freeway service area as usual and found that my dad still sat in the front passenger seat soundly, I started to panic. To me, the roads in Taipei are like a maze, if I take any wrong turn, all the drivers on the road will honk me, and then I will be frightened and bump into other cars and I will DIE! After reconfirming that I was going to drive to my sister’s school and back, I paid triple attention to EVERY EXPENSIVE CAR and try to stay away from them as possible. Fortunately, I successfully picked up my sister and pulled up to buy lunch safe and sound. I was so relieved and was about to take a left turn to leave this terrible drivers’ hell. There was an unexpected refuge island, and I couldn’t decide which roads I should take, so I was about to hit the island! Luckily, my dad rescued my family! (I felt betrayed when I later found that the two roads are heading to the same destination^^) Overall, I think I have proven that I am a trustworthy and independent driver, so I drove to Taichung to visit my friends! 

         I have begged my parents for permission to drive to Taichung for a whole week but they denied it. In the morning of that day, I woke up extremely early and gave it a last shot, and I SUCCEEDED! To show my sincere gratitude, I practiced pulling over in the parking lot nearby my home before I left, and I failed to park in the parking space EVERY SINGLE TIME. However, it didn’t compromise my confidence. Jump into my seat, fasten the seat belt, and turn the music on, I was ready to set out to Taichung with 100% confidence! Driving alone on the freeway is one of the most delightful things in the world! I had expected this day since I first got my driving license, and here it finally came! I successfully arrived at Taichung and picked up one of my friends, but there was a little bit of mix-up so we were a liiiiiittle bit late – about an hour😉 (thankfully, we are still friends). After our gathering, I drove them to the MRT station one by one during the rush hour. Although I almost freaked out because no one was willing to make way for me, I returned home unscathed!

         After this winter vacation, I think I have proven that I am a qualified and mature driver. Hope that someday I can call some of my friends, singing loudly and happily along the way to the beach☺️!
